Terms of Service

Effective date: 15 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Kate Saville ("Atlas", "we", "us") covering your use of the Atlas language-learning app and website. By creating an account or using Atlas, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Atlas.

1. The service

Atlas is an educational app for learning languages. It is currently completely free: there are no subscriptions, purchases, or paid features. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will say so clearly before you are ever charged, and these terms will be updated first.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Atlas. You agree to provide an accurate email address, keep your password confidential, and be responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Tell us promptly at hello@atlaslearn.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

Use Atlas for personal language learning. You agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe others' rights while using the service;
  • attempt to access other users' accounts or data;
  • probe, disrupt, overload, or interfere with the service or its security (including circumventing rate limits or access controls);
  • copy, scrape, or bulk-download course content, or use automated tools to extract it;
  • reverse engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it;
  • resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service or its content.

We may suspend accounts that put the service or other users at risk.

4. Intellectual property

The Atlas app, its design, and all course content — lessons, example sentences, exercises, notes, and audio — belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them within the app for your own learning. This licence does not allow republishing or redistribution of course content.

Your learning records (progress, review history, statistics) are yours; we process them to run the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Educational disclaimer

Atlas is a self-study learning tool. We work hard on the accuracy and quality of our course content, but we do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, fluency level, or exam result, and Atlas is not a substitute for accredited instruction, certified translation, or professional advice. Languages are living things; usage varies by region and context.

6. Service availability and changes

Atlas is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may add, change, or remove features and content (including course content) as the product evolves, and we may suspend the service for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. We are a small team building actively; we will always aim to give notice of significant changes but cannot promise uninterrupted availability.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: Account → Delete Account. You'll confirm with your email and password, and the deletion is immediate and permanent — your account and all your learning data are removed from our servers, and there is no way for us to restore them. You can also email hello@atlaslearn.app if you'd rather we did it for you.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms — for example the acceptable-use rules — or where required by law. Where reasonable, we will warn you first. On termination, your licence to use the content ends and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales.

Subject to that: Atlas is provided free of charge, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all implied warranties and will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data, or losses arising from events outside our reasonable control. If you use Atlas as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except that if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your home nation's courts, and consumers always retain mandatory protections of their local law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Atlas evolves. We will update the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Atlas after a change means the updated terms apply.
